2. IBM Quantum 홍보

IBM 홍보(1) : A new collaboration with AMD to develop QCSC

• IBM and AMD teams will explore how to best integrate quantum computing hardware and software from IBM with AI

accelerators (such as GPUs), and high-performance computing (HPC) engines from AMD.

• Pairing quantum computers with HPC resources in this way allows us to run workloads that we believe will soon surpass

classical HPC compute architectures alone. (See some examples of exciting QCSC work here: arXiv:2507.18817;

arXiv:2312.09733)

• We're also jointly exploring open-source approaches, including Qiskit, to ensure scalability and community adoption. 

In parallel, we are evaluating AMD GPU and FPGA technologies for potential integration into IBM Quantum computers to

support the decoders needed for fault-tolerant systems.

The first claims of quantum advantage are emerging, but how will we know when it's really arrived? 

Researchers from IBM® and quantum startup Pasqal explore this and other questions in a new white paper now on arXiv.


⦁ Quantum advantage is a solution such that:

i) the correctness of the output can be rigorously validated

ii) it is performed with a quantum separation that demonstrably offers superior efficiency, cost-effectiveness, or accuracy than what is attainable with classical computation alone




⦁ The three pathways towards establishing trust for quantum advantage are: 

i) methods that provide provable confidence bounds (error mitigation, error correction)

ii)algorithmic approaches (variational methods) that guarantee upper bounds for solutions

iii) problems with efficient classical verification (eg. peaked circuits)

Researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) published results in Physical Review X that demonstrate exponential algorithmic speedup for a modified version of Simon’s problem using IBM quantum computers.


Through optimization and noise suppression efforts, the researchers were able to show that a quantum player could win exponentially faster than any classical one. 

They observed the speedup on problem sizes up to 58 qubits for Hamming weights up to w=7. For Hamming weights of w=8 and w=9, the quantum algorithm no longer showed advantage due to the increased circuit depth.
